Turkish Foreign Ministry criticizes April 24 statement of Obama

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has reacted to the April 24 statement that U.S. President Barack Obama issued on the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.

According to ermenihaber.am, the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s statement reads: “Unfortunately, this year the U.S. president again demonstrated a lop-sided approach that reflects the Armenian point of view. Such statements damage relations between Turkey and the United States. We consider this statement distorting historical realities as disputable and accept it with regret”.

In his statement yesterday, President Obama used “the Meds Yeghern” phrase that translates as “The Great Massacre” instead of the term “genocide”.
