Oskanian: Yerevan is a driving force of economy

One of the parties presents Yerevan mayor as a person who solves only everyday problems of Yerevan, Vartan Oskanian said at the meeting with reporters today. Oskanian tops the Prosperous Armenia Party’s (BHK) list of candidates in the May 5 elections to Yerevan Council of Elders.

“The mayor is currently presented as a secondary person, to whom everyone dictates. We take a different approach. We consider the Yerevan municipal elections both political and economic,” Vartan Oskanian stated.

He also spoke about his wish to become Yerevan mayor.

“If you view the city as one of the driving forces of Armenia’s economy, as the capital city of all the Armenians, it becomes clear why a man who headed Armenia’s Foreign Ministry for ten years now wants to become Yerevan mayor. This job is not beneath me,” V. Oskanian said.
