CTUA chairman: In Armenia, a high-paid job is a dream

The Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia and sectoral unions of CTUA organized a march in Yerevan today on the occasion of International Labor Day.

The participants carried placards saying “We demand worthy jobs and worthy wages”, “Equate the minimum wage with minimal social needs”, “The power of trade unions is in their unity” and “No to unemployment and poverty”. They marched through the city center to the building of the CTUA.

The chairman of CTUA Edward Tumasian told Aysor.am that a guaranteed high-paid job is a dream for each Armenian and that people usually turn to them when their condition is beyond sufferance and in this case they very often ask not to release their names.

The chairman of the trade union of Nairit Plant CJSC Hrachia Tadevosian said for his part that their main goal is to re-launch the plant so they try to deal with the problem of wage arrears through negotiations.
