Armen Martirosian: The voter punished opposition

The opposition, which had disappointed citizens, was to blame for what happened in the Yerevan municipal elections, the deputy chairman of Heritage Party Armen Martirosian, who topped the list of Hello Yerevan bloc of parties in the May 5 elections, said at a meeting with reporters today. He added:

“Citizens saw some opposition forces fighting against other opposition forces, rather than against the authorities, and they have punished the opposition”.

Martirosian said that based on the election results, Hello Yerevan bloc will represent not only its electorate, but also all the opposition forces in the Yerevan Council of Elders.

“Hello Yerevan has managed to have its members in the Council of Elders without fraud. As regards the authorities, they were honest in the sense that they said they were going to distribute bribes and use hooligans of districts, etc. Election bribes were distributed on a large scale, outside and inside polling stations, “ Armen Martirosian said.

As for the possible cooperation between Hello Yerevan and Prosperous Armenia party (BHK) in the newly-elected Council of Elders, Martirosian noted:

“First of all, BHK should decide what part of the political field it occupies, and then we will speak about cooperation or joint work in the Council of Elders”.
