New government of Armenia formed

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan today signed decrees on the appointment of the members of the new government, the presidential press service reports.

The Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) yesterday determined the composition of the new government. Spokesman for HHK Edward Sharmazanov told reporters that a decision was made to appoint Finance Minister Vatche Gabrielian as Chief of the Government Staff. This position will henceforth have ministerial status.

At the prime minister’s suggestion, the Chief of the Government Staff David Sargsyan has been appointed as Minister of Finance. Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Hrachia Rostomian has been relieved of his duties. Yuri Vardanian has been appointed to that position.

Minister of Economy Tigran Davtian will represent Armenia in the World Trade Organization. Vahram Avanesian has been appointed Minister of Economy.

All the other ministers and the prime minister have retained their posts.
