Levon Zurabian insists that BHK is opposition

One should judge a political force by its deeds, and not by hasty statements, the deputy chairman of Armenian National Congress (HAK) Party, head of HAK faction Levon Zurabian said in a live television interview with RFE/RL, when commenting on BHK leader Gagik Tsarukian’s statement that Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) cannot be opposition.

In his words, BHK is not part of the ruling coalition, besides, it did not support the candidacy of Serzh Sargsyan in the presidential elections, while after the parliamentary elections BHK backed in the parliament a number of initiatives of vital importance to HAK and jointly struggled against falsifications during the parliamentary elections and the recent elections to Yerevan Council of Elders.

“All those steps show that BHK behaves like an opposition force,” Zurabian underlined.

“When I try to examine this process objectively, I realize that BHK can only be called opposition,” Levon Zurabian stated.
According to him, HAK is a radical opposition, whereas BHK vacillates between conformism and opposition, which has not reduced its opposition character.

“It is a natural process. Only BHK is responsible for such behavior. We are responsible only for our behavior. We are also responsible for our estimations which I think are more correct than those of BHK,” the HAK deputy chairman said.

He declared that HAK will continue to cooperate with BHK, and following Tsraukian’s statement, HAK is not out in its reckoning.
