OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to visit region in late May

The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group Jacques Faure of France, Igor Popov of Russia and Ian Kelly of the U.S. met today with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov in Cracow, Poland. Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk also took part in the meeting.

According to the official website of the OSCE, the co-chairs and the foreign ministers discussed the negotiating process on a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The minsters exchanged views on the current state of the negotiating process and reaffirmed their commitment to the idea of strengthening peace in the region.

The co-chairs stated again about the necessity of refraining from actions that could increase tension or damage the peace process. They also discussed a number of confidence building measures.

The co-chairs will visit the region in late May and discuss these issues with the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
