Stepan Safarian: These authorities will not remain in power for five years

“The whole political system of Armenia is in an unstable state. The confidence level is low, while the degree of authorities’ legitimacy is almost zero,” the secretary of Heritage Party Stepan Safarian said at a meeting with journalists today, when commenting on the domestic political situation in Armenia.

“Even a most insignificant event today causes a violent reaction. I can’t make forecasts about when these authorities will collapse, but it is obvious that the system is like a rusty mechanism unable to move the county forward. I share the opinion that these authorities will not remain in power for five years,” Stepan Safarian said.

As regards a change of power, Safarian noted that his party has always stated that it will not choose a path of bloodshed.

“We said that over 600,000 people in Armenia do not recognize the results of the elections They have the right to be protected by law. These authorities are most afraid of law. Life showed that the other political forces, expect Heritage Party, do not want a change of power,” Safarian stated.

In his words, a “re-dislocation” rather than redistribution will take place in the political arena. He noted that some opposition forces await the opposition’s failure even more than the authorities.
