Public discussion on gas tariff in PSRC not held

The Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia (PSRC) intended to hold today the first working discussion concerning the increase in natural gas and electricity tariffs. However, the discussion did not take place as numerous citizens were registered to participate in the discussion and there was not enough space for all participants in the hall.

The commission chairman Robert Nazarian called upon the public discussions’ participants to calm down and move to a larger hall, but the participants rejected his proposal, saying all interested strata of society, including those people who gathered in the yard of the PSRC, should take part in the discussion.

“I have no desire to be involved in a show and for that reason we are not going to request a large hall. Instead we will hold discussions with various strata of society every day,” Robert Nazarian said.

Those present rejected this proposal as well. Member of the Public Council of Armenia Arshak Sadoyan intervened in the dispute and proposed that the discussion be held in the Public Council’s hall which is much larger. Sadoyan’s proposal was applauded, while the PSRC chairman announced that the discussion will not continue today.

Robert Nazarian said the discussion will continue tomorrow, without media presence.

“Mass media representatives will not participate in the discussions so as not to occupy a lot of room. Besides, you are in favor of a show, but I am not,” Robert Nazarian declared.
