Second road to be built from Armenia to Nagorno Karabakh
Funds to be raised by Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s annual Telethon this year will be used to build a road from Vardenis (Armenia) to Martakert (Nagorno Karabakh). The Fund’s Executive Director Ara Vardanian sad thanks such a road, it will take only three hours to travel from Yerevan to Nagorno Karabakh’s capital city.
According to him, the road will be 114 km long, with work already being launched. The cost of the project is about $30 million.
“This is going to be the second motorway from Armenia to Nagorno Karabakh. The current Goris-Stepanakert motorway is not quite convenient, people get tired. For this reason a decision was made to build a second road. Besides, this road is important in terms of developing Martuni region,” Ara Vardanian said.
