There is no progress in Karabakh issue due to Baku’s position

Armenia will make efforts on a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the speaker of Armenian parliament Hovik Abrahamian stated at the meeting with PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon today, according to the parliament’s press service.

In the words of Hovik Abrahamian, Armenia believes that the problem can be solved only within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group and based on the three principles: the right to self-determination, territorial integrity, and nonuse of force.

“Azerbaijan with its bellicose rhetoric is moving the process into a deadlock and there is no progress because of that position,” the parliamentary speaker said.

Jean-Claude Mignon said for his part that the Karabakh problem should be solved within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, through peaceful negotiations, and based on the Madrid Principles.

He also stressed the importance of democratic reforms in Armenia and congratulated Armenia on its chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

The PACE President is in Armenia to attend the sessions of the PACE Standing Committee and Bureau.
