Hrant Bagratian: Farm consolidation will lead to reduction of crops
During the presentation of reports on implementation of 2012 budgets of regional administrations today, the parliamentary deputy Hrant Bagratian asked Governor of Armavir province Ashot Ghahramanian if he considers the current consolidation of farms as a justified process.
Besides, Hrant Bagratian questioned the fact that 15-17% of lands in Armavir province were allocated for roads. According to him, many land plots in the province were not cultivated in the past, but the situation has changed and now the province harvests the same amount of vegetables, gourds and melons as the whole republic did in 1990.
“Armenia has never before cultivated so many vegetables crops and melons. Do your consolidate farms in order to reduce crops?” Bagratian asked.
We would remind you that the Agriculture Ministry proposes establishing agricultural cooperatives by merging small farms.
