Declaration on Karabakh adopted at PACE Standing Committee meeting
“The search for a peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is a commitment taken by Armenia and by Azerbaijan upon their accession to the Council of Europe. In this context PACE expresses its full support for the negotiations with the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group, on the basis of the Madrid Principles, which establish a framework for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” says the declaration on the Karabakh conflict adopted today at the meeting of the PACE Standing Committee in Yerevan.
PACE called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to use the opportunities of their respective chairmanships of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in order to achieve reconciliation and promote the conflict settlement.
The PACE is ready to do everything – through parliamentary diplomacy - possible to accelerate the negotiating process and create an atmosphere of mutual trust between parliamentarians of the two countries.
