Aram Asaturian: Budaghian will be transferred to ward tomorrow

The condition of Colonel Artak Budaghian wounded in the June 1 shooting outside the Syunik governor’s house is moderately grave, Aysor.am was informed by the Head of Central Military Hospital Aram Asaturian.

In his words, Budaghian will be transferred to a war tomorrow. The doctor said he visits Artak Budaghian every day and views his wound, but avoids talking with him about the incident.

“I don’t want to speak about the incident. He has not yet been informed about his brother’s death,” Asaturian explained.
The correspondent of Aysor.am asked him how many bullets were removed from Budaghian’s body. The hospital head said: “One bullet”. He refuted rumors that Artak Budaghian has developed pneumonia.

Asaturian noted that Budaghian received a penetrating abdominal wound. “There may be commissures after an abdominal operation. I hope he will not have such a problem,” the doctor said.

We should remind you that there was a shootout outside the house of Suren Khachatrian in the city of Goris on the evening of June 1. Former candidate for Goris mayor Avetik Budaghian was killed, while his brother, a military unit commander Artak Budaghian, was seriously wounded and hospitalized. The governor’s bodyguard Nikolai Abrahamian was also wounded.
The Syunik governor’s son Tigran Khachatrian and another bodyguard, Zarzand Nikoghosian, were arrested on suspicion of murder. They were charged under Article 104 part 2 point 6 (murder) and Article 235 part 1 (illegal purchase, possession, and carrying of arms) of the Criminal Code.

The Investigation Service of Defense Ministry is investigating the criminal case.

The Syunik regional court of general jurisdiction granted the investigatory body’s petition to use two months’ arrest as a measure of restraint against Tigran Khachatrian and Zarzand Nikoghosian who have been transferred to Nubarashen penal institution.
