Armenian president expresses condolences to Mikhail Saakashvili

President Serzh Sargsyan sent today a telegram of condolences to Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili in connection with the June 6 incident in Afghanistan, in which Georgian peacekeepers were killed. According to the presidential press service, Serzh Sargsyan condemned that heinous terrorist act.

Seven Georgian soldiers were killed and nine others injured in a suicide attack in Helmand province of Afghanistan on June 6. According to representative of Georgian Defense Ministry General Irakli Dzneladze, the troops were killed and injured when militants blew up a truck packed with explosives outside their military base in Helmand.

President Saakashvili declared June 7 a day of national mourning for the soldiers killed in the suicide attack.
