Aram Manukian: There are serious differences within authorities
There are serious differences within the authorities, which is evident from the incidents in Goris and Gyumri, the ‘offshore scandal’ related to the prime minister, the report of the Control Chamber, and so on. The secretary of Armenian National Congress (HAK) parliamentary faction Aram Manukian made that statement during a Facebook conference organized by RFE/RL Armenian Service.
“In a situation that exists in our country, dozens of prime ministers would have stepped down, many governments would have resigned, but different rules are in force here,” Manukian noted.
Asked why HAK does not hold rallies anymore, Aram Manukian replied that today their party efficiently works in the parliament. In his words, some ten thousand people may attend a rally, whereas hundreds of thousands can follow the processes in the Armenian parliament online.
“The authorities solve the problem thanks to the quantity, but the opposition’s activities in the parliament cannot be called inefficient. In the parliament,we say such things which we didn’t say right to their face for many years,” Aram Manukian said.
In response to the remark that nothing has changed as a result, Manukian said the deputies of the parliamentary majority have become more cautious and they also began to read bills, which is “quite difficult for them”.
