Serzh Sargsyan: For some people, Europe is still only a market
Unfortunately, in our region there are still some problems and circumstances that hinder the efficient use of opportunities provided by the Eastern Partnership project. Unfortunately, for some people, Europe is still only a market and not a system of values,” Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at a joint press conference with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski today.
“One of our neighbors, while making statements about entering the European path, at the same time glorifies the villain who committed an ethnic murder, threatens to shoot down civilian planes and deprive the people living in their land for millenniums of that right.
Another neighbor – Turkey that gravitates towards Europe and is a member of the EU Customs Union – closed the border from the first days of our independence and rejects good-neighborly relations that are so urgent in the 21st century. The pivot of our negotiations with Europe is mutual accessibility of markets and free movement of citizens, but Armenia’s border with the EU Customs Union remains closed. We anticipate a clear and full assessment of this fact’s inadmissibility,” Serzh Sargsyan said.
