Analytical component is of fundamental importance to CSTO

Drastamat Kanayan Institute for Strategic Studies of the RA Defense Ministry has become a member of the Analytical Association of Collective Security Treaty Association (CSTO). The agreement was signed at the second forum “Political and Security Guidelines for the Formation of the Military Component of the CSTO” held in Yerevan.

“The analytical component is of fundamental importance to CSTO activities,” Secretary General of CSTO Nikolai Bordyuzha said. According to him, such forums allow finding solutions to problems existing between countries and the presidents of those countries are later informed about the solutions.

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian said for his part that 2012 is an anniversary year for CSTO and will go down in history as a period of constructive and efficient work.

“Concrete goals aimed at developing the military component of the CSTO and raising it to a qualitatively high level has been set, which will allow us to respond adequately to all the existing and possible challenges and threats to the national and collective security of CSTO member states,” Ohanian said.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has sent an address to the forum participants, noting that the planned development and improvement of the military component of the CSTO will contribute to stability and security in the responsibility zone of the CSTO.
