David Jamalian: New stage of arms race begins
The purchase of weapons from Russia is yet another meaningless step of Baku because it is unable to achieve its goal. Military expert David Jamalian expressed such an opinion at a meeting with reporters today, when commenting on the recent sale of new weapons to Azerbaijan by Russia.
“Baku cannot breach our defenses on the Artsakh front in several directions,” he stressed.
The expert said Armenia currently has weapons that enable to deter the adversary’s aggression, neutralizing the most important infrastructure.
“A new stage of the arms race has begun so we should not lag behind Azerbaijan. An adequate response is necessary,” Jamalian declared. He explained that the matter concerns purchase of antitank guns and rocket systems.
Discussing the Armenian-Russian alliance, Jamalian noted that the alliance allows Armenia to buy arms at affordable prices.
“The Armenian-Russian alliance is based on equality. We should not be ashamed to raise any issue before our strategic partner and we should keep in mind that our country’s prospect consists in not lagging behind in the arms race,” the military expert said.
