Hayrikian: Russian arms sale to Azerbaijan is amoral

Armenia is the only country to be publicly threatened with war, which is inadmissible from the viewpoint of international law, the leader of the Union for National Self-Determination (AIM) Party Paruyr Hayrikian said at a meeting with journalists today.

In his words, Armenian diplomacy experienced failure. “They say Armenia has occupied 20% of Azerbaijan’s territory. In response, our diplomacy says it is in favor of self-determination of peoples and wants to achieve success through negotiations with our neighbors,” Hayrikian noted.

As for Russia’s supply of new arms to Azerbaijan, Hayrikain said: “They say it is a business. Is prostitution a business?” According to him, some types of business are amoral in themselves.

He noted that if the ally wants to conduct such a business, that approach is criminal and amoral. “The weapons sold could be used by the state that threatens with war against a neighboring country. If you support negotiations, why do you sell arms? Russia wanted to make it clear that you are our slaves and will remain our slaves,” Paruyr Hayrikian said.
