Soldier hangs himself in military unit

An Armenian conscript, Private Gabriel Lalazarian was found dead in a military unit of the RA Defense Ministry around 10:10 pm yesterday, on July 5. He hanged himself from an antenna mast.

The Defense Ministry’s Investigation Service opened a criminal case under Article 110 part 1 of the Criminal Code (causing a person to commit suicide or attempted suicide by implied malice or by negligence, by means of threats, cruel treatment, or regular humiliation). An investigation is underway.

‘The Defense Ministry of Armenia shares the grief and expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Gabriel Lalazarian and his fellow soldiers,” the ministry said in a statement.
