Yerevan Municipality to hold festive event at Swan Lake tomorrow

In connection of Vardavar festival, the Yerevan Municipality will hold a festive event near Swan Lake of the city on July 7. The event will start at 12 noon and include a concert and various surprises.

The presentation of female singer Iveta Mukuchian’s new song and performances of dance groups are scheduled to take place. All the participants of the event will be given buckets.

Vardavar is a festival, during which people of all ages drench each other with water.

Although now a Christian tradition, Vardavar's history dates back to pagan times. The ancient festival is traditionally associated with the goddess Astghik, who was the goddess of water, beauty, love and fertility.
