Car falls into gorge in Syunik province

The Ministry of Emergency Situation of Armenia received a phone call at 10:25 pm yesterday that a car fell into a gorge on Kapan-Tchakatashen motorway in Syunik province and there were injured persons.

A rescue team of MES was sent to the indicated scene.

It turned out that a Mercedes skidded off the motorway and fell into an 18-20 meter deep gorge. There were five passengers in the car, including two children.

Prior to rescuer-firefighters’ arrival at the scene, local residents had transported the children to the medical center of the city of Kapan. Around 10:55 pm the rescuers pulled the remaining two passengers (the children’s parents) and the driver out of the car and took them to the Kapan medical center.
