Karabakh conflict should be resolved based on Madrid Principles

“The settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is a subject of negotiations today, while the negotiating process is taking place within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. Certain principles were developed for the negotiating process and these principles were mentioned at the G8 summit recently. The principles are called Madrid Principles,” French Ambassador to Armenia Henri Reynaud told a press conference today.

The Nagorno Karabakh conflict should be settled based on the Madrid Principles, the ambassador said.

“Two countries should take a decision on the conflict settlement. Such a decision should be taken at the level of presidents of the two countries,” the ambassador noted. He also said that the future status of Karabakh shall be determined by the conflicting parties.
