Bekarian: Russia’s steps are bad pattern, rather than accident

“Is it the first time that Russia has sold arms to Azerbaijan or increased the gas tariff?” The head of European Integration NGO, political scientist Karen Bekarian addressed this question to reporters today, when discussing the sale of Russian arms and the recent increase in the Russian gas price.

“I would not like to create an impression that I like that deal or I consider it correct and expedient, but it is not the first time that Russia has done this. Yet the impression is that Russia has not taken such steps for many years and now it raised the gas price and sold arms to Azerbaijan for the first time,” Bekarian said.

In his words, there is nothing new or force majeure in the issue so as “to try to link it with some process”. He noted that all these steps of Russia are a “very bad pattern”, rather than an accident.
