Iskandarian: Armenia will initial document in Vilnius

”The Vilnius summit is approaching. The process is proceeding quite successfully and there is great likelihood that Armenia will initial the document in Vilnius,” the political scientist, Director of Caucasus Institute Alexander Iskandarian said at a meeting with reporters today when commenting on the political situation ahead of the Vilnius summit.

He noted that following the initialing, the document will have to be translated into working languages of the EU and approved by 28 EU member states’ parliaments and also by Brussels.

“Various political figures are speaking about the Vilnius document and everything seems to be going well,” the political scientist said.

In his words, force majeure situations may emerge in politics and there have been such precedents in Armenia’s history, but given the current political realities, there are no contradictions between joining the Customs Union and deepening relations with the European Union.

According to Iskandarian, there are no contradictions between the formats of the Customs Union and the EU, but these contradictions exist in Armenia’s intellectual and reporting circles.
