Europarliament didn’t discuss sending observers to Azerbaijan
In all likelihood, the European Parliament will take a decision in September about sending observers to monitor the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, the correspondent of Ayspor.am in Strasbourg was informed by European Parliament spokeswoman Marjory van den Broeke.
Let us remind you that Azerbaijani parliament member Elhan Suleymanov was quoted by the Azerbaijani media as saying that the European Parliament has no intention of sending its observers to Azerbaijan during the presidential elections due in October. In his words, the European parliament removed Azerbaijan from the list of countries to be monitored during elections because of quite a democratic situation in that country.
Marjory van den Broeke also told the correspondent of Aysor.am that the Conference of the Presidents of the European Parliament has not yet taken any official decision.
