Adibekian: I pay 150 drams – driver is not to blame

I pay 150 AMD – the driver is not to blame, the head of Sociometer independent sociological center Aharon Adibekian said at a meeting with reporters today, adding that prices should gradually rise as we move forward in line with international standards.

“At the same time I should say that wages should increase as well. I don’t mind paying a minibus fare of 300 AMD but only in the event that I have 300 AMD to pay for transport. It is clear that a person who works 25 days a month cannot pay 150 drams, especially in case of having a child who is a student,” Adibekian noted.

As regards the current initiatives against the increased bus fare, Aharon Adibekian stated he doesn’t want to punish drivers. “Imagine the situation if drivers go on strike,” the sociologist said, noting that in any event, the Armenians are adaptable. “I have worked with 65,000 Armenians and I know well that the Armenian nation is not capable of carrying out a revolution. We either lower our heads and adapt to the situation or leave the country and are scattered “.
