Transport minister meets with French ambassador

Armenian Minister of Transport and Communication Gagik Beglarian met today with French Ambassador to Armenia Henri Reynaud, the ministry’s press service said.

The minister attached importance to Armenian-French relations in telecommunications and road construction sectors, expressing confidence that there are all the opportunities for their further development.

He spoke about North-South project’s strategic importance for Armenia, as well as about the recently arisen problems in the program – the problems were related to Safege Company, France, exercising technical and engineering supervision.

“We even wanted to terminate the agreement with Safege, but they managed to eliminate all the shortcomings within a month. We are now happy with the process of work,” Beglarian noted.

Henri Reynaud said he was informed about the problems with Safege, adding he is glad the problems have been solved.
He stressed the importance to cooperation of the two countries in telecommunications, noting that Orange - the third mobile operator have made a number of improvements and implemented many programs in Armenia.
