Bakhshian: Owners of most lucrative lines make decisions on transport

In politics and law, is it permissible for one to vote for a decision, in which one has an interest? In Armenia, people who own the most lucrative bus lines voted when the decision on transport fare increase was taken. Member of Hello Yerevan faction of Yerevan Council of Elders Ms. Anahit Bakhshian said this during an interview with RFE/RL Armenian service outside Yerevan Municipality today.

“I think the issue of the fare change will still be raised. I hope that the lawsuit we are going to file in connection with that increase will allow avoiding a repeat of the situation,” she noted.

Speaking about the sprinklers that have been recently frequently turned on outside the municipality, Ms. Bakhshian said the lawn sprinklers were not used so often previously. ‘They are trying to hinder activists in this way,” Anahit Bakhshian said.

By the way, A. Bakhshian had just attended the consultation chaired by Mayor Taron Margarian. In her words, the mayor did not say anything about the sit-in held outside the municipality.

We would remind you that a group of young people have held a sit-in outside the Yerevan Municipality for the last two days. They call for resignation of the transport department head Henrik Navasardian.
