Armen Martirosian: Association Agreement’s initialing is unlikely

“If Armenia joins the Customs Union, the form of government in our republic will be the same as in the countries of that union, that is, an authoritarian form of government,” the deputy chairman of Heritage Party Armen Martirosian told journalists today, when commenting on Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union and the initialing of the Association Agreement with the EU.

In his words, the Armenian authorities, trying to display ‘adroitness’, have declared that they will initial the Association Agreement with the European Union. “I have doubts that Armenia will initial the EU Association Agreement in Vilnius,” Martirosian noted.

According to him, the decision about Armenia’s entry into the Customs Union was taken in Moscow in a matter of hours because the Armenian prime minister and other officials had earlier ruled out the possibility of our country’s joining the Customs Union.
