Galust Sahakian on Syunik governor’s return: Everything is possible

Deputy Chairman of Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Galust Sahakian is not a judicial body and cannot give the reason for termination of criminal proceedings against the son and the bodyguard of ex-governor of Syunik province Suren Kachatrian following the notorious events on June 1 in the city of Goris.

“It is the function of the competent body. They make such decisions,” the head of HHK parliamentary faction Galust Sahakian said during a briefing with reporters in the National Assembly today.

In response to the remark that Suren Khachatrian was in fact innocent and lost his position without reason, Galust Sahakian said that the governor resigned of his own free will. Asked if Suren Khachatrian may hold a position again if he wants, Sahakian replied: “Everything is possible. There are no innocent and guilty people. We all are human beings with our shortcomings and mental abilities”.

The faction head declined to speak about the court system, but he said that “the problem is that people came to the house and took certain actions. Perhaps the investigative agency will make its approach more precise”.

Let us remind you that the Investigative Service of Armenian Defense Ministry has decided to terminate criminal proceedings against the son and a bodyguard of Suren Khachatrian, former governor of Syunik province.
