Nalbandian: Armenia will continue to develop cooperation with EU

Armenia will continue to develop close and deep cooperation with the European Union in every possible format and direction, promoting relations on the basis of all the achievements recorded between Armenia and the EU recently, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian told reporters today following his meeting with representatives of the Armenian parliament’s factions.

“We expressed our opinions clearly. I also said that during the meeting with the foreign minister of Lithuania which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This wish of Armenia is also stressed in the release issued after the meeting with Commissioner Fule,” Nalbandian said.

Commenting on Armenia’s entry into the Customs Union and at the same time the possibility of signing the Association Agreement with the EU, Edward Nalbandian said that the Lithuanian foreign minister, too, spoke about such a possibility.

“He said we should continue to advance the relationship between Armenia and the European Union,” Nalbandian noted.

In response to the remark that opposition deputies of the National Assembly expressed discontent after the meeting, saying they didn’t get exhaustive answers to their questions, the Armenian foreign minister replied: “If someone wants only to ask a question without hearing the answer, there is no answer to him. I answered all the questions put to me. If anyone doesn’t perceive or accept those answers because he holds a different opinion, then it is his own business”.

It should be mentioned that the meeting of Armenian foreign minister with the parliamentary factions was held behind close doors.
