About 130 Syrian Armenians move to Artsakh for permanent residence
“Some of Syrian Armenian, about 130 people, have moved to Artsakh to live there on a permanent basis, but they don’t form a large part of the settlers,” David Babayan, spokesman for President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, told Aysor.am when discussing the information about granting permanent residence in Artsakh to Syrian Armenians.
According to Babayan, most of the people who apply for permanent residence in Artsakh are Armenians who previously lived in various Azerbaijani cities and had to leave their homes because of the war and violence that began in the late 1980s.
“The authorities of the NKR adhere to the principle of humanity and give houses to those who have been displaced from their homes and need help,” David Babayan said.
