Ohanian: Decision on entry into CU taken given security problem

The security problem forms the basis of practically all political decisions of a strategic nature, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian said today at the meeting with the faculty and students of Yerevan State University, when commenting on Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union.

“The decision was taken, given the atmosphere that formed around Armenia, as well as the regional conflicts and the problems related to Nagorno Karabakh. We are strategic partners with CSTO member states and Russia and we cooperate in the military and technical sphere. The decision was made, taking this into account,” the minister stated. Seyran Ohanian at the same time noted that the strategic partner provided and continues to provide assistance to Armenia with purchase of modern weapons.
