Artak Zakarian: Armenia’s policy has never been one-sided

Armenia has never implemented a one-sided foreign policy, Armenian parliamentary deputy, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Artak Zakarian said today, when speaking about Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union.

“Nothing supernatural happened on September 3. The Armenian authorities have always been guided by national and state interests, they were never guided by illusions,” Zakarian noted.

“Our objective is to participate in economic markets. Our commodities are not ready for European markets. Those in the EU are not waiting for us. From this point of view, we had no illusions. We always said that the Eurasian economic interests us,” the deputy stated.

According to him, no one made Armenia take this or that decision. “We must continue the dialog with our European partners and find points of contact in various spheres,” Artak Zakarian said.
