ARFD urges voters not to vote in Syunik by-election

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation – Dashnaktsutyun Party calls on voters not to go to the polls in the upcoming by-election to the National Assembly to be held under the majority election system in electoral district # 38 in Syunik province of Armenia.

The party’s structure in Syunik province said that the by-election is ‘just another farce of the authorities’ and will not result in significant changes. Besides, ARFD continues to oppose the majority election system during parliamentary elections.

In a statement, the party said there are no efficient mechanisms of control over electoral processes.

The ARFD also urges other candidates to announce their withdrawal and “not to participate in the authorities’ show”.

The by-election in Syunik is scheduled for September 29.
