Expert: Armenia should be absolutely independent

Close strategic relations with Russia should not rule out cooperation with the European Union, former Armenian Ambassador Arman Navasardian said at a meeting with reporters today.

In his words, the two processes should take place in parallel with each other.

“There is no such category as ‘impossible’ in politics. There is a negotiating process, on which solution of problems depends,” he noted.

According to him, Russia exerted pressure on Armenia because it seeks to establish an integration system and in this case Armenia is very important to Russia.

Another participant of the meeting, management expert Harutyun Mesropian said for his part that Armenia should be absolutely independent.

“If you choose the direction of a superpower, you become a controlled object, but when you don’t do it – you aspire to be a subject with a higher degree of freedom,” Mesropian said.
