Armenian president sends message of congratulations to Angela Merkel

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan sent today a message of congratulations to German Chancellor Angela Merkel in connection with the victory of the Christian Democrat Union (CDU) led by her in the 2013 Federal elections, the presidential press service said.

‘The third successive win of the Christian Democrat Union was quite an expected one. Under your wise leadership, Germany not only did not retreat and continued to develop at the current difficult stage of global challenges, but also lent a helping hand to a number of neighboring and friendly countries and further enhanced its prestige on the international arena.

The considerable progress recorded a result of these elections also shows that thanks to your high professional competence, continuous persistent work and positive human qualities, you continue to enjoy confidence of the German people.

I am convinced that the Federal Government under your leadership will continue fulfilling the obligation on long-term development of Armenian-German relations based on mutual trust and respect, in which Armenia is deeply interested.

As the chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia, I also value highly the cooperation between our parties and the further deepening of their ties, especially within the framework of the European People’s Party.

I wish you good health and new successes in your activities as a stateswoman, and I wish sustained progress and prosperity to the German people.
