New system of education needs’ assessment developed in Armenia

Armenian Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotian received today Representative of the UNICEF in Armenia Henriette Ahrens and representative of the USAID Ani Manukian, the press service of the ministry said.

Minister Ashotian said that Armenian Ministry of Education and Science views international organizations as important partners and expects the joint programs to be expanded and become target ones in the future.

The interlocutors touched upon issues related to the process of returning of boarding school pupils to their families. A pilot program in cooperation with local authorities and social services will be implemented in Lori and Tavush provinces of Armenia.
Armenian Ministry of Education and Science and the UNICEF are developing a new system of assessment of educational needs of children, based on a modern international methodology.

Minister Ashotian also said that a draft law on additions and amendments to the Law on General Education is being discussed by the National Assembly. The draft envisages ample opportunities for organization of exclusive education.
