Health ministry takes measures due to cholera outbreak in Iran
In connection with recent cholera cases in Iran, Armenian Health Ministry is taking the necessary preventive measures at Meghri checkpoint at the Armenian-Iranian border and in Zvartnots Airport to prevent the penetration of cholera to Armenia, the press service of the ministry reported.
According to data of Iranian Health Ministry, 179 cholera cases, including 5 cholera deaths, were recorded in 10 Iranian provinces. The infectious disease spread to Iran from Afghanistan and Pakistan. 149 cholera patients are citizens of Afghanistan.
910 passengers who came to Armenia from Iran have been inspected. 740 of them arrived in Armenia through Meghri checkpoint, 170 through Zvartnots Airport. No cholera patents were reported.
435 Armenian citizens who left for Iran recently were given advice concerning the disease. 421 of them left Armenia through Meghri checkpoint, 14 – by Zvartnost Airport.
Customs officials and Armenian Agriculture Ministry’s employees working in checkpoints were informed about the ban on import of foodstuffs without packaging.
