Margar Ohanian released under amnesty
The former chief of the Traffic Police of Armenia Margar Ohanian has been released under the amnesty, Ohanian’s lawyer Mkrtich Vasakian told RFE/RL Armenian service. In 2012 M. Ohanian received six years in prison for serious embezzlement.
In May 2012 the court found M. Ohanian guilty of abuse of office and stealing of state property and sentenced him to 6 years in prison.
The former chief of the Traffic Police was detained on August 30, 2011. The materials about misappropriation of the fuel allocated for provinces by officials of the Traffic Police were sent from the Main Department for Fight against Organized Crime to Armenia’s Special Investigation Service.
