Hraparak: Mayors of Armenian cities vie with each other

Mayors of Armenian cities seem to be vying with each other for the best organization of their City Day. Yesterday generals led by Manvel Grigorian ‘mobilized all forces’ to make Etchmiadzin Day a holiday, while the leader of Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) Gagik Tsarukian tries his best to mark the 50th anniversary of the city of Abovian.

‘Hraparak’ daily reminds its readers that Abovian mayor is Tsarukian’s son-in-law. In addition to traditional shows and performances of starlets, the BHK leader took a creative approach to make this year’s City Day more original: he invited Olga Mavrina, the granddaughter of famous Armenian writer Khachatur Abovian.
