Explosion near Armenian-Greek College in Yerevan

Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) received information at 09:23 am today that an explosion occurred near the Armenian-Greek College in Yerevan. The correspondent of Aysor.am was told by the ministry that MES rescuers were sent to the scene. They said the explosion left behind a large hole in the ground.

“The cause of the explosion is not known yet. Experts are trying to establish it,” the chief of 2nd brigade of rescuer-firefighters of MES, Khachik Shahbazian, told Aysor.am.

MES rescuers, policemen, and an ambulance arrived at the site. One of the college employees was taken to Erebuni Medical Center. College students were frightened, but none of them saw what happened. They told the correspondent of Aysor.am that one student was also hospitalized.

The police called on citizens not to succumb to panic. They said the situation is under control.
