Serzh Sargsyan attends Izmirlian Medical Center reopening

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended today the reopening ceremony of Izmirlian Medical Institution and St. Nerses the Great Scientific Medical Center.

The president toured the center, familiarizing himself with the work done and new equipment.

Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II and Swiss Armenian benefactors Tigran and Helena Izmirlians were present at the ceremony.

The Izmirlian Medical Center was founded on the basis of the Scientific Research Institute of Proctology.

Programs of $12 million were implemented with funds of the Izmirlian Foundation and Mrs. Louise Manoogian Simone, thanks to which the hospital underwent major repairs and a new building was added to the hospital complex. Modern equipment and instruments have been purchased. The Izmirlian Medical Center currently has 200 employees and performs surgical operations which were not carried out previously in Armenia and the region.

CEO of the Izmirlian Medical Center Armen Muradian told reporters that their center operates under the auspices of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. He said the center’s staff perform surgeries and provide medical aid in border areas and villages as well.
