CSTO didn’t discuss peacekeeper deployment in Karabakh
The issue of deploying peacekeepers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in the Karabakh conflict zone has never been discussed, Secretary General of the CSTO Nikolai Bordyuzha said during a Yerevan-Moscow-Astana-Kiev video bridge.
“Such an issue was never discussed. First of all, consent of the two countries is necessary for that. In general, deployment of CSTO peacekeepers in frozen conflict zones has never been a subject of discussion. Perhaps the reason is that the peacekeeping forces of the CSTO were set up only a few years ago,’ Bordyuzha noted.
He also said the heads of CSTO member states have signed the agreement on equipping of CSTO rapid reaction forces with modern weapons.
