Prime minister: Azerbaijan’s provocation will not remain unanswered

“It was yet another mean provocation of Azerbaijan. It will not remain unanswered. I think the purpose was to distract the attention of Azerbaijani citizens from active discussion of the election results in the postelection period,” Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said in the Armenian parliament today in response to the question of Heritage faction secretary Tevan Poghosian concerning the border incident that occurred yesterday, on October 22.

Let us remind you that on October 22, between 1 and 2 pm, Azerbaijani troops opened fire at vehicles on Berd-Ijevan Highway near Paravakar in Tavush province of Armenia. Private Garik Poghosian, 19, was killed in the gunfire. Three other conscripts – Arthur Andranikian, 19, Ara Zhamharian, 19 and Martin Petrosian, 19, received gunshot wounds and were hospitalized.

Another question of Tevan Poghosian was related to the process of providing apartments to disabled veterans of the Karabakh war and families of servicemen killed in action.

The head of government said the program has slowed down a little because of cuts in construction allocations in 2010-2011.
“Today we along with Defense Ministry are developing a program, which will allow us to solve the problem as soon as possible. We need to increase funds for the needs of the families of servicemen killed in action and disabled veterans of the Karabakh war,” the prime minister said.
