Minister: Our position was always the same - to bring back Injighulian

Our position has always been the same: we should try to help Hakob Injighulian return to the homeland, without any criminal prosecution in the future, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian told journalists during a briefing in the parliament.

“Experience shows that POWs are either sent back or sent to a third country. Azerbaijan is taking steps for sending Injighulian to a third country, but Armenia’s position has always been the same: to bring back Injighulian, without starting any criminal proceedings against him,” Seyran Ohanian said, adding the problem is complicated by the absence of links between the states.
Hakob Injighulian crossed into Azerbaijan on the morning of August 8. According to a preliminary version, he lost his way.

Later Azerbaijan’s commission on POWs and hostages declared that Hakob Injighulian expressed a desire to be transferred to a third country.
