Farmanian: Simplified visa regime with EU may take effect in January

The Armenian parliament will discuss the issue of visa regime simplification with the EU at the regular sitting, the co-chairman of the EU-Armenia Inter-parliamentary Cooperation Committee Samvel Farmanian told a press conference today.

In his words, then the document will be signed by the Armenian president. Farmanian expressed hope the agreement will take effect on January 1, 2014.

‘The visa regime simplification is one of the concrete results of cooperation between Armenia and the European Union in recent years, which bears evidence of efficient work,” Farmanian said.

Following the Vilnius summit, all the directions of Armenia’s further cooperation with the EU will be specified, the committee co-chairman said. “Armenia considers it especially important to continue close cooperation with the European Union,” he stated.
