Uruguayan ambassador presents credentials to Serzh Sargsyan

The newly appointed Ambassador of Uruguay to Armenia Anibal Cabral presented today his credentials to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, according to the presidential press service.

The president congratulated the ambassador on his appointment, expressing hope that during his tenure renewed impetus will be given to the deepening of friendly ties of the to countries.

In the words of S. Sargsyan, Armenian-Uruguayan relations have been developing stably since the declaration of Armenia’s independence, which is evident from their mutual readiness to cooperate in various spheres and special attention to each other’s problems.

The Armenian president stressed that the Armenian people will never forget that in 1965 Uruguay was the first country to recognize the Armenian Genocide, thanks to which it won the sympathy and respect of not only the Armenians, but also progressive mankind.

Ambassador Cabral stated that Uruguay is interested in expansion of cooperation with Armenia in various spheres and further promotion of bilateral relations.
